Some legacies begin with a business. Others begin with a mother.

Betty Elliott Leonard was the mother of our founder and CEO, Tammy, and one of the people who helped shape the values at the heart of Bluegrass Home Care Services. Betty raised Tammy to care about others, to be compassionate, to help when someone was in need, and to understand that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.

Those lessons stayed with Tammy. When the opportunity came to take a leap and create Bluegrass Home Care Services, the values Betty had instilled in her helped give her the courage to do it.

Today, those same values guide the work we do every day. We care for people because people matter.

We show compassion because everyone deserves dignity and respect.

And we strive to enrich lives because that is the kind of difference Betty taught Tammy was worth making. If Betty were here with us today, we know she would be proud of what BGHC has become, and of every caregiver, client, family member, and team member who helps carry that mission forward.

Sandra Scott - A Life of Teaching, Caring & Inspiring

Job Position

This World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, we remember someone whose life has inspired the very heart of Bluegrass Home Care Services.

Sandra Scott was not only a beloved mother and grandmother, but she also devoted much of her life to educating children and making a difference in her community. She spent years teaching at James Lane Allen Elementary and Beaumont Middle School, touching the lives of countless students. Sandra was also the mother of Thad Scott, the husband of our founder and CEO, Tammy.

When Sandra began facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, her family experienced firsthand how deeply a person can need compassionate, dependable support. Her journey showed them the importance of having someone there when families need help.

That experience inspired us to establish Bluegrass Home Care Services.

Today, every client we serve is the reason why our work matters. We strive to provide the patience, dignity, compassion, and dependable care every person deserves. Sandra's life has touched so many through education, family, and kindness. Her legacy lives on throughout the lives we have the privilege to serve.

This World Alzheimer’s Month, we remember Sandra and all those living with Alzheimer’s and the families walking beside them.
